We visited the Van Gogh Alive exhibit with the kids, and I personally arrived knowing very little about the format. It was enthralling – I was absolutely blown away with the presentation.
The exhibit was inside an old church, with large screens placed all around. An visual experience was the projected onto the screens, the floor, and the ceiling. This was accompanied by various classical pieces, to match the narrative as we were told the story of Van Gogh’s life.
As we view his life and career, we see Van Gogh’s emotions though his work and the music. At key times, the paintings are animated which could have been terrible but is in fact executed so beautifully that it’s a real delight.
The main experience lasts for around 40 mins and it’s absolutely magical. I found it really quite emotional at times. It captivated our kids for pretty much the entire time which is quite an achievement in the age of Tik Tok. If you get a chance visit this exhibit, do so!
