A mixed month to start the year; plenty of enjoyment tempered by a bout of flu. And the return of Trump to office, an inauguration to darken the soul.
New Year’s Day was a flyer. Shaking off the hangover and cobwebs with the traditional plunge in the White Wells.

This was followed by a trip to Leeds for a fabulous lunchtime curry at Tharavadu, then down to Elland Road to watch Rovers steal yet more points.

We had a cold, wet but enjoyable walk near Dunsop Bridge in the beautiful Forest of Bowland. Had our visit been the day before or after, the weather would have permitted gorgeous views. We, however, had very low cloud, mist and drizzle. And yet, like any long walk, it was still nourishing food for the soul up, over and around Whin Fell, and back down the River Dunsop. And a lovely night at Mitton Hall included a really top class dinner.

On a work trip to our new London office I spotted this mural, near the frustratingly decent Thameslink train… Another example of the huge transport investment divide between the south east and the rest of us.
