I was lent this first hand account from the guy who compiled the Trump dossier we all read and gossiped about (yes, that one), and the subsequent nightmare it made his life.
The book starts slow, and perhaps gets a little bogged down towards the end… but in the middle there is a very interesting behind-the-scenes glimpse into the private intelligence world. Compared to the huge volume of fiction and non-fiction dedicated to government intelligence operations, I’ve read very little that speaks of the businesses that supply covert information gathering services.
Presumably for legal reasons the book does not contain the contents of the infamous dossier, but cleverly gives a summary by quoting a very explicit denial from Trump’s defence team.
Steele’s experience of being thrown into the global spotlight, and becoming a target for the MAGA ghouls is one you would not wish on anybody; and he gives a very robust justification for the need to reform the UK’s current lawfare-friendly environment.
